Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve

Horsh Ehden is a mountainous ecosystem on the Northern Mount Lebanon chain, ranging in altitude from1200m to 2000m.the area of Horsh Ehden is about 1700ha.

Horsh Ehden forest is a unique assemblage of conifers, deciduous and evergreen broadleaf trees in an isolated phyto-climatic region with a highly varied topography.

The exceptional biodiversity 3 of the 9 bio-geographic zones recognized in Lebanon are represented in Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve, thus contributing to its nationally important biodiversity.

HENR is a nationally outstanding example of a remnant forest ecosystem exhibiting a high degree of biological diversity and integrity; it represents the most diverse example of cedar forest in Lebanon.

 

Located at the top of Ehden, this beautiful reserve offers a beautiful selection of cedar and pine trees that host the most wonderful birds and reptiles. Whether it’s spring or winter, Horsh Ehden is the location to have a hike, to go biking and even to climb.
